The 2025 edition of the award-winning Goju Karate Women's Self Defense Seminar returns on Saturday, April 5, 2025.
Goju Karate's acclaimed Women's Self-Defense Seminar returns on Saturday, April 5, 2025 from Noon to 3PM at the Goju Karate dojo.
The three hour seminar is officially in its eleventh year, and the instructors leading the seminar have decades of experience in teaching practical self-defense for women.
Self-Defense for Every Woman
On Saturday, April 5th, experienced blackbelt instructors will lead a comprehensive workshop designed specifically for women who want to build confidence and learn practical safety skills.
This seminar is for every woman, regardless of your fitness level or experience with any kind of martial art or self-defense. Whether you're a complete beginner or have some martial arts experience, this seminar will provide valuable techniques tailored to real-world situations.
Our focus is on learning five very basic and easy techniques and responses that cover 95% of the situations you are likely to encounter in daily life. No silly backflip/somersaults and no McDojo "ninja death touches" – we teach only real-world stuff that actually works and that you, as a normal average woman, can do and will remember how to do.
Comprehensive Real-World Scenarios
During this intensive three-hour session, you'll learn essential striking techniques, effective escape methods, and situational awareness strategies that can help you navigate urban environments with greater confidence. Our instructors understand the unique challenges women face and will teach you how to leverage your natural strengths while addressing common scenarios that may arise in daily life, from crowded subway platforms to late-night walks home.
Beyond physical techniques, this seminar emphasizes the psychological aspects of self-defense. You'll develop a stronger sense of personal boundaries, learn to project confidence through body language, and practice using your voice as a powerful deterrent.
A Fun and Safe Seminar
We create a supportive, judgment-free environment where you can ask questions and practice techniques at your own pace with other women who share your interests in personal safety.
And yes, you'll have fun!
But more importantly, you'll leave feeling more capable, more informed, and more able to defend yourself than when you arrived.
The seminar includes hands-on practice with partners and assistant instructors, and real-life scenario simulations. You'll work with partners of all different sizes and strength, ensuring that you can effectively execute the techniques you learn.
Why this Seminar is Different
The emphasis of the Women's Self-Defense Seminar is very different from the vast majority of similar events: a set of five scenarios will be explored, and practical real-world techniques will be taught to deal with those scenarios. No flying kicks, no impossible "holds" and certainly no hard-to-master techniques are involved.
The seminar revolves around the real world: real, trainable, and reasonable techniques are taught, and practiced, throughout the event. And the scenarios explored are based on real probabilities and real situations that women are likely to encounter.
Tell Every Woman; Bring Your Sister, Mother, and Best Friend
But perhaps most importantly, this seminar is open to the general public so please encourage all the women that you know to register. Bring your sister, your Mom, your best friend, your co-workers. Not only are you helping them learn to defend themselves, you'll also have a great range of partners to continue practicing with once you leave the seminar.
The Seminar fee is only $50 – there's nothing else to buy or bring. Just dress comfortably, you'll be moving around at a normal level (this isn't a workout!).
Easy online registration is available by clicking the button below. Please register as soon as you can – we limit the size of the group to make sure everyone has a great experience!
And don't forget: please forward this email or webpage URL to every woman you know: you'll be helping them develop the skills and confidence to be safer.
